CLUB NEWSWARMINSTER PHILATELIC SOCIETYMAY 2025 VISIT OF JAMES PODGEROn the 13th May 2025 we had our penultimate meeting of the season. Our visiting speaker was James Podger, James is a well-known Philatelist and is a member of the Royal Society, he has displayed all over the world and has been a gold medal winner in various competitions, this was Jame’s third visit to Warminster and we were very pleased to host him for the evening. James displayed some of his outstanding collection of postal history of the British West Indies which included extracts from his gold medal collection of the British Virgin Islands.James’s display included nearly 200 sheets and contained many unique items with Letters, envelopes and postal items from as early as 1709 to the late 1800s. James gave a very comprehensive review of the material including many anecdotes about the senders and receivers, explanations of the varied mail routes and of course the varied postage rates.

There is also the opportunity to progress to the Wiltshire Federation Competition — and perhaps even further into National Competitions.
